2013 US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-America Honors
New Orleans, LA -- After making history with its
second National Championship in its first year of postseason eligibility, Academy of Art University Track & Field had its 17 NCAA All-Americans officially announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) on Tuesday. The field of athletes who have earned USTFCCCA All-America honors for the 2013 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field season are based on their performances at the Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Vashti Thomas led all Division II student-athletes with a total of six All-American honors. She was the champion in the long jump and 100m hurdles, Top 3 finisher in the 200m, triple jump, and 4x100m relay, and a contributor to ART U's All-American 4x400m relay team. Next in line,
Jesseka Raymond's inspired performance over the three days led her to honors in the Heptathlon, 100mH, and 4x100m. Also with three All-American trophies,
Briana Stewart added strong performances in the 400m hurdles, 4x100m, and 4x400m.
Dinesha Bean (100mH, 4x100m) was joined by
Keanna Moody (4x400m) and
Dominique Berry (4x400m) on the women's side while
Johnny Carter captured his All-American honor in the long jump.
Overall, the 17 honors were two more than what ART U collected in its indoor season.
