PacWest Release
Newport Beach, CA -- Redshirt sophomore
Alex Carmon added to his resume with another appearance on the Hawai'i Tourism Authority PacWest Men's Basketball Final 5 this past week, as he broke out of a recent scoring drought in last Tuesday's game against Holy Names. The honors were announced Monday, January 20 for games played Jan. 13-19.
The Long Beach, CA native had a team-high 24 points in the overtime loss to Holy Names in his second straight game with 20+ points, backing up a 26-point outburst the week before against Chaminade. It marked his fifth game this year with over 20 points, and in the game against the Hawks he also added five rebounds and two steals.
Carmon is leading the team, averaging 17.4 points per contest, which also ranks near the top of the PacWest leaderboard as well. In that game he also leapfrogged his way up the record books, and is now third on the all-time list in terms of scoring for the Urban Knights with 632 points, trailing only
Ameer Shamsud-din (876) and William Overton, Jr. (827). His 15.8 points per game average for his career is also fifth overall, while he is only seven free-throws off the career mark set by Overton at 177.
This is Carmon's third time on the PacWest Weekly Honors this season, after being named Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 11 and making the Final 5 for the week of November 18.
