To help ring in the new year, the Pacific West Conference offices announced a slew of PacWest Weekly Awards from the first chunk of the basketball season. The Urban Knights were well represented, capturing one Athlete of the Week honor and an additional five honorees on the weekly Final Five during the first half of the year.
started off the year as the hottest commodity in the PacWest, earning Athlete of the Week honors
for November 8-10. The sophomore shot over 50 percent from the floor and averaged 25.0 points per game as the Knights split their opening tournament of the year. In that same week, senior Aaron Aikman
was also rewarded with a spot on the Final 5 after he averaged 23.0 points and 5.0 rebounds per game shooting 85.7 percent from the floor.
Two weeks later
, Carmon was back at it, averaging 25.5 points per game, good for second in the PacWest, and 5.5 rebounds per matchup and earning a spot on the Final 5. Alongside him was his former high school teammate and Urban Knights backcourt partner Alexis Moore
, who made his first appearance after averaging 19.0 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He also dished out four assists per contest for his first honor.
Most recently, Moore made the grade again
for the week of November 25-December 2, as the Long Beach native had a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds in a losing effort against UC San Diego.
For the Urban Knights, they will have multiple chances at capturing more awards as they foray deeper into the PacWest schedule, taking on the Hawaii pod this week before returning to the mainland on December 14th.
