PacWest Conference Players of the Week (Nov. 17)IRVINE, Calif. — On Monday, the Pacific West Conference named Academy of Art University Volleyball senior libero Kanoe Irvine its Defender of the Week for matches played Nov. 10-16. For the week, Irvine averaged 6.38 digs per set and went out on a memorable note, setting the program's single-match digs record with 38 in a
3-1 win over Notre Dame de Namur.
Irvine had amassed 31 digs through the first three sets of Saturday's match and went on to break the record of 36 she herself set last year (
36 vs. UH Hilo) and tied this season (
36 at Chaminade). Additionally, her team set the program digs record with 113 total in the match.
Two days prior, she offered 13 digs against Dominican onÂ
Nov. 13 and would finish the year with double-digit digs in 20 of 28 matches this season.
In her senior season, Irvine ends up ranked fourth in the PacWest Conference in service aces (0.40 SA/set) and seventh in digs per set (4.42 DG/set). In both categories she was part of the country's upper tier as well.
Irvine completes her three-year career as the only Urban Knight to surpass quadruple digits in total digs (1,077) and also the program's leader in both career service aces (106) and single-season service aces (42) which came in 2014. She winds up second on the ART U all-time list in single-season digs with 460 as a senior.
