PacWest Release
Newport Beach, CA -- Continuing to shoot up the charts among historical Academy of Art University men's basketball players, junior guard
Alexis Moore is also cementing himself among the leaders in the conference, as he was named to the Hawaii Tourism Authority PacWest Final 5. The honors were announced Monday, February 10 for games played February 3-9.
Moore spread his numbers around and stacked the stat sheet with 15 points, seven assists, and four steals as the Urban Knights defeated Notre Dame de Namur for the first time in program history, winning comfortably over the Argos 68-56. Moore was one of five Knights in double figures, and his seven assists were the second-most this year, only behind his almost-triple double against UH Hilo in January (10 pts, 10 rebs, 9 ast). He has also now scored in double digits in 20 of the 21 games he has played in this year.
With those numbers, he has now moved into seventh-place all time in single season points and first overall in single season average, putting up 17.0 points per contest. The seven assists gave him 74, which also ranks seventh, and the four steals gave him 39 on the year, ranking as the fifth-best but well within reach of the single-season record set by Weleh Dennis back in 2008-09 (44 steals). He also made one three-pointer on the night, which gave him 53 triples on the year, only two behind
Ameer Shamsud-din's single-season record of 55 set in his first year (2011-12). With six games left, he will have ample time to make a run at that as well as surpassing last year's win total (9) as the Knights fight to finish strong.
