2014 California Baptist University Men's Golf Invitational
Riverside, CA – In a tournament that featured a total of seven Pacific West Conference teams, Academy of Art University Men's Golf finished 13th overall ahead of five others. The Urban Knights were led by a solid final round from
Dat Do, putting them on top of Dominican, Cal State Dominguez Hills, Holy Names, NDNU, and Biola.
Taking 24th after a 73 third round mark that matched his first round score, Do ended up with a cumulative result of 222.
Eugene Wang, ART U's leader after the opening round, came in second on the team (38th overall) with a 225 after a 77 in round three while
Tommaso Vielmo's 77 put him one stroke back in 43rd (226).Â
Alberto "Dago" Esponda posted a 79 and
Cody Moore's 77 rounded the Knights' five.
As a team, ART U's cumulative 902 bested Dominican by two strokes and was considerably ahead of the remainder of the pack. Dixie State finished in 12th with an 898 and it was Western New Mexico who captured the team tournament title.
Academy of Art looks ahead to one final tournament before the Pacific West Conference Championship which they host in mid-April. ART U's last stop prior to that finale will be the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational (Apr. 14-15), hosted by Cal State Stanislaus, head coach
Andy Moren's alma mater.
