Ewa Beach, HI -- When the final ball dropped in the cup on Tuesday afternoon, the Academy of Art University women's golf team found themselves where they started the day, battling it out and cementing their efforts among the elite of the conference and finishing third at the PacWest Championship Tournament. Crystal Wang moved up from a tie for third place to finish tied for second overall, while the the Knights had three golfers honored on the All-PacWest postseason teams.

"The highlight of yesterday's round was definitely watching Crystal's eagle on the last hole," said head coach Elaine Harris. "I am so proud of the way she played. She is a great player and she had an outstanding freshman year. I am looking forward to coaching her for the next three years."

The Knights started the day in third place and held on for the duration of the round, staving off a late push from Point Loma Nazarene University, who finished the tournament a stroke behind. UH Hilo was crowned the champion with four finishers in the top ten, followed by California Baptist in second place with three top ten golfers. After the Urban Knights and PLNU, Dixie State University rounded out the top five.

For the Urban Knights, their freshman phenom cut a stroke off her first round score to shoot 75 on the day and tie for second place overall with Hilo's Jade Salvador. Junior Mariana Pazos finished tied for 12th, while senior Melissa Genao finished tied for 14th overall. Deanna Tyndall rebounded by cutting off four strokes to tie for 20th, while Roxanne Matta tied for 23rd overall.

"Mariana and Melissa also finished strong with their highest finishes of the year, placing them in all conference second team," said Harris "Dee and Roxanne have been solid players all year. While they didn't have their greatest tournament they kept team spirits high. This has been an emotional tournament with the seniors leaving but they are all off to so great things. I feel so lucky to have been able to work with them all throughout the year."
