Track & Field Collects 31 All-Region Honors

2014 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Team

New Orleans, LA -- Coming into NCAA Division II Nationals with it's men's squad ranked #9 and women's squad at #14 in the country, Academy of Art University Track & Field finished off its 2014 outdoor regular season by earning 31 All-Region honors as announced by the nation's foremost track and field organization on Tuesday. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) awarded All-Region to the top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three, meaning eight members of the Urban Knights men's squad and six women were selected.

Jordan Edwards led the way on the men's side, serving as one of just two individuals in the nation with All-Region honors in five different events. His top marks in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m, and 4x400m were all recognized. Fellow relay teammates, Ronald Spears, Jr. (100m, 4x100m, 4x400m), Shaquille Howard (400m, 4x400m), Alexander McNally (4x100m, 4x400m), and Marlon Britton (4x100m) were also among the list for ART U. Excelling in the horizontal jumps, Edgar Panford soared to All-Region honors in the long jump and triple jump while Nicolas Rifflard (1500m) and Quinlan Wright (400mH) rounded out a collection of talented artist-athletes this outdoor season. 

The women were highlighted by five All-Region selections for Dinesha Bean, who displayed her skills in the 100m, 200m, 100mH, 4x100m, and 4x400m this year as a senior. Following with four honors, Keanna Moody was recognized in the 400m, 400mH, 4x100m, and 4x400m while Racquel Jones (LJ, 4x100m), Mistic Scott (400m, 4x400m), Dierra Haven (4x400m), and Kayla Pritchett (4x100m) finished off an ART U women's squad that moved up thwo spots on the national rankings after this past weekend.

A total of 16 Urban Knights across the men's and women's teams will be in action at this year's 2014 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Allendale, MI next week on May 23-25.
