Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — By rejecting Jordan Stone's last-second shot in the first half Saturday, junior center
Trent Stokes set a new Academy of Art University men's basketball single-season record for blocks, but it was No. 21 BYU Hawaii that came away with an 88-49 Pacific West Conference win at Kezar Stadium.
Â
Stokes recorded his 32nd block of the season to set the new mark, breaking
Rodrigo Maza's former record of 31 set in the 2012-13 season. He would turn away another shot in the second half for his 33rd block, putting him one rejection behind fifth place on the ART U career record list.
Â
The No. 21 Seasiders (15-2, 9-2 PacWest) won with the transition game, leading the fast break points category 22-0. They also held a 20-8 advantage in points off turnovers and outscored the Urban Knights (4-13, 2-9 PacWest) 44-22 in the paint.
Â
ART U trailed by 13 points at halftime, 37-24, but scored seven straight points with four different players to cut a 15-point deficit to eight points at 41-33. That's as close as the Knights would get though, as BYU Hawaii went on a 27-4 run to grow its lead to 31 points with 7 minutes, 9 seconds to play.
Â
Senior guard
Aaron Anderson led Academy of Art with 12 points. He also had three rebounds and a steal. Junior forward
Nick Cary was the Urban Knights' other double-figure scorer with 10 points, two rebounds and a steal off the bench. All nine players who saw time for the Knights scored at least two points and seven grabbed at least one rebound.
Â
The Seasiders had three double-digit scorers, led by Pablo Coro's 13 points. Daniel Berger had 11 and Scott Friel added 10. Jordan Stone had nine points and a game-high 16 rebounds, including seven on the offensive end.

Academy of Art next hosts Dixie State at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
