Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

ART U Stings YellowJackets with 69-67 Win

BILLINGS, Mont.-With 26 seconds remaining in Saturday's game, Montana State University Billings' Alisha Breen made two free throws to tie the game at 67 apiece.

Senior guard Zoie Sheng then slowly took the ball down the court and surveyed the scene in front of her. It was the calm before the storm: with the shot clock turned off, Sheng calmly dribbled at the top of the key, waiting for the right moment to strike. With six seconds remaining and her teammates shouting in unison the clock's count-down on the sidelines, she drove to the basket; maneuvering her way through traffic on the right side, Sheng was able to perfectly place a game-winner into the bucket.

With 0.5 seconds on the clock, the YellowJackets took a timeout, but couldn't get a rushed 3-pointer to go in. The final score was ART U 69, MSU Billings 67.

Overall, it was a close contest throughout, featuring nine ties and seven lead changes. In order to secure the win however, it took contributions on all fronts. The Urban Knights had four starters finish with double digit point totals: Sheng (14), senior guard Jasmin Guinn (27), senior guard Sha'Nice Storey (13), and senior guard Regina Camera (11).

Head coach LaNay Larson said a few words in regards to her team's ability to stay mentally tough and come out on top:

"I'm proud of the way they persevered through some of the harder moments in the game….games like this are huge…I'm proud of them coming into this environment and playing against a really tough Montana State Billings Team."

Sheng also fielded a few questions and was asked how prepared she felt the team was for the upcoming games:

"We've been making improvements each game. If we continue to do that, I think we'll be successful moving into conference [play]."
