2015 CSUSB Coyote Classic Final Results

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. — A tough final round Tuesday saw the Academy of Art University men's golf team hold position in its spring season opening tournament at the Cal State San Bernardino Coyote Classic and finish in 13th place at Arrowhead Country Club.

The Urban Knights saw four of their five players shoot equal or higher scores than day one, but it was not just ART U; 11 of the 15 teams in the field failed to lower their score Tuesday from Monday's second round. ART U's 916 three-round total bested Pacific West Conference members Notre Dame de Namur (14th, 945) and Chaminade (15th, 953).

Junior Dat Do was the Knights' top finisher, tying for 26th after shooting a 79 Tuesday to finish with a 222 tournament score. Senior Alberto "Dago" Esponda finished tied for 30th, two strokes behind Do with a 224 total score. Esponda was tied for sixth and in contention just four strokes off the lead after two rounds Monday, but a round of 81 Tuesday dropped him back.

Senior Eugene Wang stayed even and shot a 77 Tuesday, one stroke better than his second round score a day earlier. He would finish tied for 54th at 232. Junior Tommaso Vielmo shot 81 Tuesday to finish 67th (238).

Academy of Art takes a week off before heading to the East Bay for the NDNU Invitaitonal on March 9 and 10.
