SAN FRANCISCO — A flurry of matches this weekend, highlighted by a Senior Day ceremony on Saturday, will conclude the No. 11 Academy of Art University women's tennis team's regular season as it prepares for the Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament next week.
 
Seniors Nina Gajdosikova, Jenny Johansson and Kinga Kurczbuch will all play in the final home match of their ART U careers when the Urban Knights (9-3) host Holy Names (14-4) at 2 p.m. Saturday. That will be the second of two home contests in as many days as the Knights also host Dominican University of California (6-9) at 2 p.m. on Friday. Saturday the team travels to the South Bay to face NCAA Division I member and No 56-ranked San Jose State in its final regular season match.
 
Academy of Art has won four straight matches entering the weekend, including three wins over top-25 teams. It is unbeaten at home this spring with a 3-0 mark, a winning streak that stretches to four straight dating to last season.
 
ABOUT DOMINICAN
The Penguins (6-9) closed out a 3-3 home stand Thursday with an 8-1 loss to Cal State Stanislaus. They had defeated three straight PacWest opponents prior to the defeat. Dominican is 0-4 against ranked opponents this season with three sweeps, including a 9-0 setback against Academy of Art to open the spring on Feb. 14.
 
Rickiemae Torres carries DUC's best singles record at 10-4, all at the No. 1 position. Only one other player has a singles record above .500 (Solveig Karlsen, 7-6). The team of Chloe Vicari and Kelly Zwicker has the team's best doubles record at 10-5, including 5-1 at the No. 1 spot. They have won eight of their last 10 matches.
 
ABOUT HOLY NAMES
The Hawks (14-4) have won 11 straight matches dating to March 8. The streak includes nine wins against NCAA Division II teams. Only one match was decided by a score of 5-4. The streak includes five wins of at least five points, including three sweeps.
 
Taylor Barajas has won 10 singles matches in a row, topping four other win streaks of at least six matches by teammates. Chelsea Smithback's team-best 12-4 singles record has been bolstered by a nine-match win streak. Amaru Hernandez and Mariel Bautista are 7-0 in doubles this year, all at No. 3. As a team HNU is 13-5 at No. 3 doubles and 14-4 at both No. 3 and No. 6 singles.
 
ABOUT No. 56 SAN JOSE STATE
The No. 56 Spartans (11-6) fell one spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll despite having won three in a row. SJSU is 5-0 at home this season and 0-5 in matches played outside of California. They are 4-1 against Northern California teams this spring.
 
Malin Cubukcu carries a 22-8 singles record in 2014-15, including 13-3 in dual matches this spring. Cubukcu has teamed with Sybille Gauvain to form SJSU's winningest doubles team, going 5-0 at No. 2 doubles.
 
VICTORIOUS VETERANS
The veteran trio of Gajdosikova, Johansson and Kurczbuch has accumulated 96 singles wins and 89 doubles victories entering the weekend. Johansson already holds ART U career records for singles wins (55), doubles wins (46) and singles winning percentage (.821). This season the trio is a combined 18-9 in singles and 20-8 in doubles.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
Selected to once again participate in the PacWest Conference Championship Tournament, the Urban Knights will travel to Surprise, Ariz., to take on the conference's best on April 16-18.
