2015 Daktronics All-West Region Team
RIVERSIDE, Calif. -- On Monday, senior outfielder
Haily MacDonald added to her post-season accolades by being named to the 2015 Daktronics, Inc. Division II All-West Region Second Team. She is the third Urban Knight in the department's seven-year history to receive the prestigious award which comes on the heels of her
All-PacWest First Team,
Capital One Academic All-District, and
ARTYs Urban Knight of the Year honors.
"
Haily MacDonald is one of the most impactful players this program has seen and the records she set this year are phenomenal," said head coach Sonja Garnett. "Not only does she excel at the sport, but she knows how to push her teammates to do the same. As a program we are proud to have her be the first to win an award of this caliber! She took the stage this weekend, earning team Most Valuable Player and ARTYs Urban Knight of the Year for her accomplishments on the field, in the classroom, with community service, and beyond. She has set a new standard for Urban Knight Softball."
This season, MacDonald became the program's new career leader in triples (9) and stolen bases (64) while also setting new single-season marks in steals (38) and runs scored (50). The fifth toughest hitter to strike out in the country, she finished the season ranked second in the PacWest in stolen bases (14th in NCAA Division II), third in runs scored, and fourth in batting average (.428). Often responsible for starting ART U rallies as the Urban Knights' leadoff hitter, MacDonald reached base in 47 of her 49 games played in 2015. This was all while excelling in the classroom with a cumulative GPA of 3.37 in the School of Graphic Design.
Joining MacDonald on the Daktronics First and Second Teams were 12 other individuals from the PacWest including Pitcher of the Year Michelle Duncan of Dixie State.
