HOOPS IN PARADISE
After spending a week at home to start 2016, Art U Men's Basketball will cross the Pacific to Hawaii where they will face University of Hawaii at Hilo, Hawaii Pacific, and BYU-Hawaii.
 
TIP OFF
The Academy of Art's first matchup will come against the Vulcans on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. HT (9:30 p.m. PT), followed by a rematch with the Sharks on Saturday at 3 p.m. HT (5 p.m. PT). KNIGHTS OF KNOTE
Overall, sophomore guard Jase Harrison is having a career season, currently leading the team with 12.5 points per contest, 4.8 rebounds per game, 1.9 steals per game (also the fourth-highest in the PacWest), 28.6 minutes per game, and is second on the squad with a .442 field goal percentage. Junior guard Chris Salas is also second on the team with 11.7 points per game, 4.2 rebounds per contest, and is averaging 26.4 minutes per game.  
 
VULCANS COMING OFF OF FIRST WIN
UH Hilo is currently 1-9, 1-5 PacWest after edging Point Loma 88-85 in overtime for their first victory of the season. Farris Parker is currently the team leader in several categories including: points per game (16.7), field goals and three-point field goals made per game (5.4, 3.0 respectively), and average minutes (37.0). The Vulcans come into Thursday's matchup 6-4 all-time against ART U, but the Urban Knights have won three of the previous four matchups.
 
STREAKING SHARKS
The 9-4, 4-2 PacWest Hawaii Pacific Sharks return home to Honolulu with a five-game winning streak, including their just-concluded, three-win tour of California. Saturday's game will feature a rematch of January 9th's contest between Academy of Art and HPU, where the Sharks defeated the Urban Knights 73-49. Joel Feigler currently sits atop the team leaderboard, averaging 14.2 points per contest, shooting .515 from beyond the three-point arc and .559 overall. Feigler also leads the conference with 2.4 blocks per game. The Sharks currently hold a 9-2 overall record against ART U.

ART U FALLS TO HAWAII PACIFIC 73-49
Jan. 9-It was an uphill battle from the beginning for the Urban Knights (4-9, 2-5 PacWest) who suffered a 73-49 loss at the hands of the Hawaii Pacific Sharks (9-4, 4-2 PacWest) Saturday evening.
 
For the first 15 and a half minutes, ART U kept HPU within striking distance, never trailing by more than eight points. Senior guard Nick Cary kept the game close in the opening ten minutes, scoring nine points while shooting 3-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc. However, in the final minutes of the opening period, the Sharks went on a 15-0 run to give themselves a 37-19 advantage.
 
LOOKING AHEAD
After Saturday's game against Hawaii Pacific, the Academy of Art will finish up their Hawaiian tour with a game against BYU-Hawaii on Tuesday January 19, before returning home face Azusa Pacific on Saturday.
