ROHNERT PARK, CALIF. – Academy of Art women's golf began the first round of the Sonoma State Invitational on Monday. The Urban Knights got off to an excellent start as they look to continue their streak of crowning an individual champion as they have done in each of their first two tournaments.

Sophomore
Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo is the front runner for ART U thus far, posting a career-low 73 (+1) strokes to tie for third-place on the first day. In Kuo's third collegiate tournament, her 73 strokes are four fewer than her previous career-best which she totaled in round two of the
Dixie State Invitational (77).
"It was great to see Vicky lead the team today," said head coach Eaine Harris. "She was hitting the ball solidly and she has been consistent in her putting which is what we have been working on the past few weeks."

Junior
Sterling Hawkins placed first in the Dixie Invite and followed up her win by shooting a 74 (+2) in the opening round. Her score is just one behind Kuo and good for a fifth-place tie. Junior
Shu-lin Lin and senior
Crystal Wang were just three strokes behind, both posting a 77-stroke round to tie for 14th-place.

With four Urban Knights in the top 15 spots, Academy of Art is currently in third-place with 301 strokes, five behind first-place Arkansas Tech.
"I saw a lot of great ball striking today, especially 100 yards in," said Harris. "As a team, we need to continue to work on our putting and stay positive."
