PacWest Conference Players of the Week (Feb. 29)
IRVINE, Calif. -- After continuing her breakout season on the offensive side of the softball, sophomore
Brenna Mitchell earned the honor of Pacific West Conference Player of the Week as announced by the conference on Monday. She was a force at the plate this past weekend, helping Academy of Art University sweep Holy Names in its PacWest debut. The awards are based on games played Feb. 22-28.
Mitchell started the
Feb. 27 doubleheader by going 3-for-3 with one run batted in and one scored in the first game then launched a two-run homer in the second game in addition to scoring twice. She finished the day 4-for-6 with three RBIs, two walks, and three runs scored.
Now hitting .344 (11-for-32) on the season, Mitchell is tied for sixth in the PacWest in home runs (3) and is the only pitcher with to rank that high. She can also be found ninth in the conference in slugging percentage (.688).
This is Mitchell's fourth career PacWest weekly honor and the first by any Urban Knight in 2016.
