Otter Invitational Day Two ResultsSEASIDE, Calif. – The Urban Knights jumped three spots on day two of Otter Invitational, finishing in fourth place overall.
The highlight of the tournament for ART U was freshman
Sabrina Virtusio. In the first round, the architecture major tied for sixth-place with 77 strokes. On the second day, Virtusio saw a three-stroke improvement, posting a 74 and finishing in a career-high second place. Her previous best was a tie for eighth at the
DBU Women's Classic (October 12-13, 2015).
"Sabrina was focused and organized in her thinking," said head coach
Elaine Harris. "She was putting and chipping well throughout all 36 holes."
Junior
Crystal Wang also had an impressive second round on the course. After shooting an 81 in the first, the La Jolla native improved six strokes to post a 75 on the second day. Her six-stroke margin marks her second-best improvement over a day one total and her best since the
PLNU Super San Diego Championship in 2014 (seven strokes).
The next closest competitor for Academy of Art was junior
Roxanne Matta who posted a 79 in both rounds to finish in a tie for 24th-place.
The next possible tournament for women's golf is the Pacific West Conference Championship April 18-20.
