Valentin Pepiot and
Keanna Moody were named Pacific West Conference Co-Track Athletes of the Week. The awards are based on competition from Feb. 27-March 20.
Pepiot delivered two school records and two NCAA Nationals provisional qualifying times at the Sacramento State meet on Mar. 19. He finished second in a 75-participant field (behind only Saint Mary's) in the 1500m with a time of 3:47.82. The Frenchman then took fourth in a 64-participant field in the 800m with a time of 1:51.23. His times rank first in NCAA DII in the 1500m and fourth in the country in the 800m.
Moody offered two NCAA Nationals provisional times at Hornet. She started with a 55.02 in the 400m dash, placing second overall and first among collegiate runners. She then ran the opening leg of a 3:44.23 4x400m relay team that finished second behind Stanford. Moody is currently ranked second in the country in the 400m and first in the 4x400m.
These are the first weekly awards the PacWest has ever released and thus the first in each athlete's respective career.
