Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout Round One Results
 
VALLEJO, Calif. – It was a gloomy weekend leading up to the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shooutout on Monday, but that did not cloud the Academy of Art women's golf team from from rising to the top.
 
Starting the day in the bottom third of the tournament's 13 teams, the Urban Knights shot their way into a three-way tie for third place. ART U also had two players finish in the top ten including junior Roxanne Matta who tied for first, finishing tied for a career-low 70 strokes (-2).
 
Junior Crystal Wang also finished in the top ten, posting a 74 and tying for eighth-place, while freshman Sabrina Virtusio (T20), sophomore Sterling Hawkins (T50), and sophomore Maria Fernanda Traboulsi (T71) rounded out the rest of ART U's competitors.
 
The Urban Knights enter the final day final day of the tournament on Tuesday looking to overcome first-place St. Mary's University (Texas) who sits just four strokes in front of the Knights.
