SURPRISE, Ariz. – No. 25 Academy of Art entered the Pacific West Conference Championship as the seventh seed with a long road ahead to the final match. Their first obstacle came in the form of the Dominican Penguins of whom they made quick work with a 5-0 sweep.

Hungry to return to the final for the second-consecutive season, the Urban Knights made their determination evident by starting the match with three doubles wins to begin the day. Freshmen
Alma Thell-Lenntorp and
Klara Thell-Lenntorp continued to dominate as a duo, sweeping their first doubles match 8-0 for their fourth-consecutive victory. Freshman
Taisiia Andrieieva and junior
Annika Schneider combined for their eighth win as a tandem by a score of 8-1. In the third position, senior
Michelle Dandik Zaale and
Paula Alcantara withstood the Penguins' Cori Beeby and Kelly Zwicker with an 8-6 triumph.

The twins continued to roll in singles as they both swept their opponents 6-0, 6-0. With the win, Alma has upped her win streak to a team-high, seven consecutive wins. Klara now owns the second-highest singles winning streak with three in a row. ART U was leading in three out of four of their remaining matches before the competition became final on account of the Knights' five wins.

The Urban Knights will look to repeat history as they advance to the quarterfinals to face No. 9 Hawaii Pacific on Thursday, April 14 at 9:00 a.m. The two met in the 2015 conference championship when ART U pulled off a
5-3 upset win in the semifinals.
