PacWest Conference Players of the Week (Apr. 25)

IRVINE, Calif. -- One of the Pacific West Conference's most consistent hitters and run producers all year and particularly this past week against No. 16 California Baptist, junior outfielder Jessica West has been named PacWest Player of the Week. West would touch home seven times, nearly half of the 20 runs Academy of Art University softball scored against the Lancers in four games, while hitting .643 with two home runs that both came in the Urban Knights' 8-7 upset victory on Apr. 21.

The week began with West going 2-for-2 with a run scored in the series opener then her first two at-bats of game two both left the yard. The Portland, Ore. native cranked the second and third home runs of her career to help ART U establish a 6-1 lead and later made it a 3-for-4 performance with a single in the sixth. West would match her season-high with three runs batted in, helping her squad defeat their highest ranked team since 2011.

Day two of the series came on Senior Day and West continued to build on what would become a five-game hitting streak. In the first game, she went 1-for-4 with another run scored and two stolen bases. As the Knights kept the series finale close, posted her seventh game with 3+ hits, finishing 3-for-4 while going for extra bases on all three. Two doubles and one triple led her to score a season-high three times.

The week saw West bat .643 and slug 1.357 with two home runs, two doubles, one triple, four runs batted in, seven runs scored, and three stolen bases. On the season, West is hitting .346 and ranks seventh in the PacWest in runs scored with 39 thus far. Among the conference-only statistical leaders, she has the third-most runs scored (27) and the fifth-highest batting average (.432).

This is West's first career PacWest Player of the Week honor.
