Ajomale Named PacWest Track Athlete of Week

PacWest Conference Athletes of the Week (Apr. 6)

IRVINE, Calif. -- A memorable outdoor debut at the 2016 Pepsi Florida Relays earned redshirt freshman Mobolade Ajomale the honor of Pacific West Conference Co-Track Athlete of the Week. The awards are based on competition from March 28 - April 3.

Coming off a 60m National Championship in the indoor season, Ajomale began his first outdoor competition with a 33rd-place finish in the 100m dash, going 10.53 for an NCAA provisional qualifier and the third-fastest time in Academy of Art history.

Ajomale later dropped a new program record in the 200m dash, going 20.88 to best Jordan Edwards' 20.89 from two years ago. The mark was just 0.18 off the automatic qualifying time, but would be a provisional nonetheless and moved the Richmond Hill, Canada native to the top of NCAA Division II.

This is Ajomale's first career PacWest Track Athlete of the Week honor.

Additionally, Ajomale is currently in the running for for NCAA Division II Men's Track & Field HERO of the Week which fans can vote on at www.artuathletics.com/HEROBolade.
