2016 USTFCCCA NCAA Division Outdoor Track & Field All-Region Team
NEW ORLEANS -- With the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships approaching next week, Academy of Art University track & field wrapped up its 2016 outdoor regular season with a total of 23 All-Region honors as announced by the nation's foremost track & field organization on Wednesday. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) bestows All-Region awards to the top five from each region in individual events and each member of a relay ranked in the region's top three, meaning seven members of the Urban Knights men's squad and five women were selected.
The men's team, ranked
4th in the West Region,
16th in the country (as of May 18), had 16 total All-Region honors.
Mobolade Ajomale each earned awards in five events including the 100m, 200m, 400m, 4x100m and 4x400m. Five other Knights came away with two awards apiece highlighted by
Shaquille Howard (400m, 4x400m),
Craig Mattox (Long Jump, 4x100m),Â
Alexander McNally (4x100m, 4x400m),Â
Valentin Pepiot (1500m, 5000m), and
Roman Skovronski (400mH, 4x400m).
Marlon Britton picked up a single All-Region honor in the 4x100m.
Keanna Moody earned All-Region in three events (200m, 400m, 4x400m) combining with
Schae Graham,
Dierra Haven, and
Mistic Scott on the 4x400m. In the triple jump,
Rian Young-Werner earned her second career All-Region honor.
The ART U men's and women's teams will be in action at the 2016 NCAA Division II Outdoor National Championships in Bradenton, Florida next week on May 26-28.
