Frank Resigns ART U, Named HNU Head Coach

SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art University's Senior Advisor to Athletics Terry Tumey announced David Frank will be stepping down as assistant men's soccer coach after three seasons. Frank will be taking on the head coach position for Holy Names University's men's soccer team, effective May 23.

"We are all really excited for Dave," said Keller. "He's had a huge effect on all the guys over the last four years and has definitely put his heart and soul into the team. We'll miss him and I have no doubt this move is a great step forward in his coaching career."

13494While working under head coach Mike Keller, Frank assisted the Urban Knights to some of their best years in program history. During his time at ART U, the Knights went 24-25-5 as Frank teamed with Keller to immediately produce the program's most wins in a single season in their first year at the helm in 2013. The team went 9-6-3 that season with highlights such as a 3-2 overtime victory over eventual PacWest champion California Baptist and a 2-1 overtime triumph at Hawaii Pacific. Perhaps one of the team's most emotional wins came as recently as this past year when the Knights used an overtime penalty kick goal to defeat SF State 1-0 and win the 2015 Kezar Classic.

"Coaching at Academy of Art University has been a fantastic experience and I'll be forever grateful to Mike and the entire ART U administration for presenting me with that opportunity," said Frank. "My time here has had a massive impact on who I am both as a coach and a person. I hope to take my experiences and continue impacting the lives of young student-athletes at Holy Names."

Frank will be taking over a Hawks program that tied for the 11th-best record in the PacWest in 2015, but 10 of their matches were decided by just one or fewer goals.
