Rio 2016 Olympic Games - 4x100m Final Results
RIO DE JANIERO – In the final event on the penultimate night of track & field action at the 2016 Olympic Games, Academy of Art University's
Mobolade Ajomale and Team Canada earned bronze medals following an inspired performance in the 4x100m relay.

Although he was replaced by 100m bronze and 200m silver medalist Andre De Grasse for the anchor leg in the final, Ajomale was still awarded the prestigious medal for his efforts to get the Canadian quartet through round one and into finals.
The work done by Ajomale in the
anchor position on Thursday set up Team Canada for Friday's grand finale in which Akeem Haynes, Aaron Brown, Brendon Rodney, and De Grasse collectively broke the Canadian record with a 37.64. Though De Grasse crossed the finish line in fourth overall, and just 0.02 behind the United States in third (37.62), USA received a disqualification for an exchange outside of the takeover zone as announced immediately following the race. Therefore, Canada was elevated to a bronze medal and all members of the relay team honored.
A protest to the disqualification may came from the United States team of Mike Rodgers, Justin Gatlin, Tyson Gay and Trayvon Brommell following the race, but it was rejected.
The relay's gold medal was claimed by Jamaica's team of Asafa Powell, Johan Blake, Nickel Ashmeade, and Usain Bolt who ran the fourth fastest time in Olympic history at 37.27. With the victory, Bolt completed the unique "triple triple," capturing gold in the 100m and 200m in the days leading up to the 4x100m. He has repeatedly said this will be his final Olympic Games.
A bright future ahead lies ahead for Ajomale who will return to San Francisco later this month to begin his sophomore year as he prepares for the 2017 indoor track & field season in January.
