SAN FRANCISCO – For the fifth-consecutive year, both Academy of Art men's and women's golf joined together at TPC Harding Park to volunteer and help raise money for charity at the San Francisco Mayor's Cup. The event is an annual golf fundraiser for the First Tee of San Francisco, the San Francisco Mayor's Women's Golf Council, the Asian Law Caucus, amongst other charities.
Â

On Saturday, September 30, ART U combined forces with University of San Francisco as the men's teams hit shots for donations and managed to raise a total of $1,500 in one day (half of which went to Academy of Art). The men's golfers included sophomore
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc and junior
Jose Lopez Butron.
Â
"A $750 donation is a great accomplishment for the Urban Knights' golf programs and beats the $500 raised in last year's event," said men's head coach
Andy Moren. "I am proud that the team participates and continues our partnership with the First Tee of San Francisco."
Â
Throughout the event, women's golf senior
Shu-lin Lin and freshmen
Iveta Posledni and
Anahi Servin helped caddy for San Francisco's mayor Ed Lee's group while sophomore
Elan Hawkins caddied for Lee, himself. During the

reception, head coach
Elaine Harris was able to make a speech thanking the mayor and everyone else for coming out to support the community.
Â
"Finding meaningful ways for the teams to give back has been a priority since taking this coaching job at ART U," said Harris. "The team practices at Harding Park which is maintained by the city, so I feel that it is extra important to give back. Mayor Ed Lee is a passionate golfer and it was great to see the students sharing their knowledge while both caddying and hitting shots at the event."
Â
The $750 raised by Academy of Art will be donated to The Make-A-Wish Foundation.
