2017 Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw – Day Two Final Results

STOCKTON, Calif. – Academy of Art men's golf entered day two of the 2017 Visit Stockton Cactus Thaw tied for 13th and looking to rise in the standings. Every player on the team either improved or matched their score from the first round, and the Urban Knights finished the invitational in the 17th spot out of 22 schools.

Junior
Oskar Frick led ART U in the standings once again. In the opening round, he shot a 71 (-1) which was good for a 16th-place tie. On Tuesday's final round, Frick improved by one stroke to finish two-under-par (70) which gave him a boost in the standings to tie for 13th.
"Oskar showed what kind of competitor he is this week," said head coachÂ
Andy Moren. "He showed why he is such a good tournament player."
Senior
Daniel Cosgrove improved two strokes over his day one total, finishing with 146 strokes (72 on the second day) for a tie in 56th place. Sophomores
Jose Lopez Butron and
Lawrence Liang both finished the tournament with 150 strokes and a tie for 82nd, while junior
Eamonn Coughlin was seven strokes behind in the 118th spot.
"I saw a lot of great things from the guys this week," said Moren "Everyone has made improvements since the fall. If it wasn't for a difficult ending on the last few holes, we would have finished well."

The Urban Knights' next tournament will take place April 24-25 at the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout, followed by the second annual hosting of the East West Invite February 27-28.
