Skyhawk West Regional Preview Final Results

DURANGO, Colo. – After a final set of 18 holes in their season opener, Academy of Art's position remained pat, finishing 12th at the Skyhawk West Regional Preview.

After leading the Urban Knights at the conclusion of the first round, freshman
Anahi Servin continued to top the stat sheet. With 78 strokes on Tuesday (+4), Servin finished her first collegiate tournament tied for 21st.

"Anahi is a great player," said head coach
Elaine Harris. "She has brought a lot of tournament experience and I expect her to be a great leader on this team."

Both seniors
Shu-lin Lin and
Sterling Hawkins finished the West Regional Preview tied for 35th with a cumulative score of 154. Lin improved an impressive six strokes over her day-one total, posting a 74 on Tuesday which was the Knights' lowest individual score of the day. Hawkins also saw an improvement in the second set of 18 holes, following up Monday's score of 78 with a 76 in the final round. The San Jose, Calif. native also found herself amongst the leaders of several statistical categories including: Par 3 scoring (+1), Par 5 scoring (-1), and total birdies (5).

The final scorer for ART U was sophomore
Han-Chuan "Vicky" Kuo. The Motion Pictures and Television Major improved two strokes in the second round, posting a 78 and a total score of 158 to tie for 60th-place.

As a team, Academy of Art saw improvement over their day-one totals, closing out the second round with a cumulative score of 306, six strokes lower than Monday's score of 312. ART U finished 32 strokes behind the tournament champion (Dallas Baptist) and just six behind PacWest-rival California Baptist.Â

The Urban Knights will now return home to prepare for September 25 when they co-host the 2017 California Bays Tournament with Cal State Monterey Bay.

"Especially with us just having begun practicing on September 9, this tournament was a great field and a good opportunity to gauge what we need to work on moving forward," said Harris. "I am looking forward to getting back to practice and getting ready to host the next event in Salinas at Corral de Tierra."Â
