Dominick Breaks Rebound Record, Nearly Posts Triple-Double in Loss

BELMONT, Calif. – A memorable performance from redshirt senior forward Pre'Franz Dominick came Saturday inside Walter Gleason Gym despite Notre Dame de Namur's 82-65 victory in the Pacific West Conference rematch. Dominick became the program's single-season rebounds leader in the first half and finished just two steals shy of ART U's first triple-double.

From the tip, NDNU pushed an 18-6 lead and later gained a 19-point advantage on a 13-2 run midway through the second quarter. The Urban Knights, who had Dominick achieve her milestone early in the second, responded by pushing 9-2 surge of their own with less than four minutes left in the first half and redshirt senior guard Jazzlynn Brewster scored ART U's final nine points to get Academy of Art within 11 by the break.

A 12-0 run by Notre Dame de Namur started the second half as they assumed a 23-point lead and later were up 73-46 midway through the fourth quarter. A mere two minutes later, Brewster exploded with nine straight points, effectively cutting the deficit to 18 points, but time would run out on a further comeback and the Argos secured the 82-65 victory.

The result drops ART U to 6-20 overall and 5-13 in PacWest play. Achieving the single-season rebounds milestone by the end of the first half, Dominick nearly achieved more history with her final stat line. She amassed 15 points, 19 rebounds, eight steals, and three blocks. Brewster had her second-highest scoring performance as an Urban Knight, finishing with 26 points (8-of-16 shooting from the field) along with eight rebounds and five assists. Sophomore forward Ines Medina scored in double figures as well with 12 points.

Winners on their home floor for Senior Day, NDNU rises to 11-16 overall and 8-11 in conference. Three Argos scored in double figures led by Marissa Caballero's 23 points, 11 assists, and six rebounds.

Academy of Art's penultimate game of the season will come this Thursday, Feb. 22 when the Urban Knights host Fresno Pacific at SF State's Main Gymnasium with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
