Academy of Art University Track & Field covered quite a bit of ground on Friday in the start to both the Mt. SAC Relays and Stanford's Cardinal Classic. Additionally,
PacWest Field Athlete of the Week Hannah Hensley was in action in the heptathlon in Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational Multi on Apr. 18-19.
TORRANCE, Calif. – Hensley stole the show on the first day of the Mt. SAC Relays inside El Camino College's Murdock Stadium with her final mark in the long jump.
Coming in with a lifetime-best of 19-3.5 (5.88), Hensley simply obliterated that mark with a 19-9.5 (6.03m) in her last attempt which included a 2.9 wind. The distance currently ranks sixth in the country as a NCAA Nationals provisional qualifier.
In the 100m hurdles,
Marion Presigny crossed the finish line sporting a season-best 14.09 to earn her first Nationals provisional qualification of the season.
STANFORD, Calif. – Opening the Cardinal Classic out at Stanford's Cobb Track & Angell Field,
Rabah Houali's 800m led a series of distance highlights for ART U.
Houali moved up in the program record books with his 1:51.74 time in the 800m on Friday, taking hold of third all-time. The mark, which was a NCAA provisional, moves him up to 25th in the country overall.
It was a career-best and NCAA provisional 14:28.44 for
Joshua Thorson in the men's 5000m, a performance that cut down his previous top time by more than 20 seconds. He ranks top 25 in the event in the country.
In the women's 5000m,
Madeline Dignadice produced a lifetime-best 18:02.11.
AZUSA, Calif. – In the heptathlon at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational Multi, Hensley completed six of seven events out at Cougar Stadium.
Academy of Art will resume both the Mt. SAC Relays and Cardinal Classic tomorrow.
