ART U FACES SHARKS, SILVERSWORDS, VULCANS TO CLOSE YEAR

KNIGHT WATCH

Pushing its current streak to now six matches with six or more service aces, Academy of Art is now 12 service aces from breaking the program's single-season record. ART U has risen to second in the PacWest with 1.66 service aces per set and sits fifth in digs per set (16.86). Still well above the top single-season hitting percentage in program history (.352), sophomore middle blocker
Jillian Wheaton's .377 mark is up to second in the PacWest and currently 22nd in NCAA Division II. The team's two junior outside hitters
Ashley Pawlak and
Mariana Figueroa Ferriera have held at second and third in the PacWest at 0.40 and 0.38 service aces per set respectively. In less than three years with the Urban Knights, Pawlak currently ranks third in career service aces (89), fourth in career digs (1,009), and seventh in career kills (612). Junior middle blocker
Carly Evetts has posted double-digit kills in seven of her last nine matches and comes in with a team-best 2.47 kills per set leading a quintet of Urban Knights averaging over 2.10 kills per set. With a team-high 17 double-doubles to her name, sophomore setter
Picabo Reinhold ranks third in the PacWest in assists per set (9.68) and remains third in all-time with exactly 1,600 career assists for ART U.
PACIFIC RIM
Following their
Oct. 2 win over Academy of Art, Hawaii Pacific was one of the top teams in the PacWest for a month, going 9-2 until four consecutive road losses came most recently. The Sharks ended up falling to all four of the conference's Southern California schools, but will now put their 13-7 PacWest record on the line at home for its final two matches. Ranked second and third in the conference in kills per set, Perla Escobar (3.64) and Cameryn Collie (3.49) are HPU's top two offensive talents. Including the result earlier this season, Hawaii Pacific leads ART U 15-4 all-time.
CHAMIN'
Chaminade's victory at Academy of Art on
Oct. 5 came amid the Silverswords' 13-match win streak which ended in late October and gave way to a 2-6 shift in CUH's more recent fortunes. Since the start of November, Chaminade (tied for third in the conference standings) has only been able to defeat Biola on Nov. 16 and, like Hawaii Pacific, finishes the regular season with two home contests. The only team ranked higher than ART U in the PacWest in service aces per set (1.84), CUH has three Silverswords in the conference's top 10 in service aces per set while Emma Tecklenburg sits fourth in the PacWest in kills per set (3.38). The historical matchup has Chaminade up 10-8 on the Urban Knights.
VULCANICÂ ROCK
Currently second in the PacWest standings, UH Hilo had just two losses since Sept. 28 and those have been only to Hawaii Pacific and Azusa Pacific. The Vulcans, who defeated ART U back on
Oct. 3, are 7-2 at home where they finish the regular season with Holy Names (Nov. 20) and Academy of Art (Nov. 23). The combination of the PacWest's kills per set leader Bria Beale (3.69) and assists per set leader Kendall Kott (10.83) has proved to be particularly dangerous with Emily Wade's 1.18 blocks per set coming in at third in the conference. In 16 previous meetings, the Vulcans are 13-3 versus ART U.
