2019 Bay Area Invitational Results (Day 1)

SAN FRANCISCO -- ART U men's golf started their 2019 season Sunday by hosting the Bay Area Invitational in San Francisco. Sophomore Matthew Watkins stroked the first eagle of the season, but the Urban Knights ended the day in 11th with a cumulative score of 303.

Watkins' eagle on hole 11 set him up for a solid 73 (+1) by the end of round one, claiming the lowest ART U score and 17th spot on the tournament leaderboard. In his return to play senior Oskar Frick, playing as an individual, shot a respectable 74 (+2). Junior Otto Homruen and senior Lawrence Liang both scored second lowest for the Urban Knights at 76 (+3) and junior Gabriel De Leon Manotoc rounded out the top four with a 78 (+6).

Concordia (Ore.) sits in first with a cumulative score of 280 (-8), Sonoma State is second with a 287 (-1), and Cal State East Bay is third with a 293 (+5).

ART U is back on the links tomorrow morning with tee times starting at 7 a.m. at TCP Harding Park.
