Knights Close Day One of WWU Invitational Tied for 12th

Western Washington Invitational Day One Results

BELLINGHAM, Wash. –
Playing their second tournament in less than three days, Academy of Art men's golf ended the first two rounds of the Western Washington Invitational, at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club, tied for 12th. The Urban Knights shot a 9-over-par 297 in the first round and a 13-over-par 301 in the second for a cumulative day one score of 22-over-par 598. 

Junior Matthew Watkins got off to an excellent start in round one, with a 2-under-par 70. He followed it up with a 2-over-par 74 in the second round for an even score on the day, and tied for 13th place finish. The junior Communications & Media Technologies major also led ART U in birdies with eighth, which was also the seventh most out of the entire 102 player field. 

Junior Julius Kreutzer shot a 2-over-74 in round one, and a 5-over-par 75 in the second round to tie for 56th. Senior Gabriel De Leon Manotoc and junior Zhane Chan rounded out the Urban Knight scorers. The pair ended with a cumulative score of 154, placing them tied for 70th and Chan shot an even 72 in the second round.

Academy of Art will look to improve their positing when they return to the links of the Bellingham Golf and Country Club tomorrow morning, starting at 9 a.m.
