Coming off of a second-straight Pacific West Conference tournament appearance, the Academy of Art men's basketball team charges into the 2020-21 campaign under head coach
Scott Waterman, his second year at the helm. ART U tips off the season with a pair of games against conference foe Dominican, starting on Friday in Belmont followed by a Saturday evening battle in San Rafael.
The 2020-21 season will see the Urban Knights battle against its fellow Northern California pod members Fresno Pacific, Holy Names, and Dominican in 12 games of PacWest play for NorCal Pod Championship. For a more in-depth look at the 2020-21 schedule,

Having graduated just two seniors last year, a strong core from the record-setting 2019-20 team returns with six seniors
Adrian Byrd-Jelinek,
Joshua Bagley,
Dante Williams,
Luka Radovic,
Josh Hill, and
Preseason All-PacWest selection Stefan Milivojevic. All six appeared in last year's PacWest Tournament game against Chaminade, and have been said by Waterman to lead by example. Milivojevic led the way in the scoring department with 17.2 ppg on 51.4 percent shooting from the field and an ART U record 45.3 percent from beyond the arc, setting nearly every ART U scoring record in the process. Meanwhile, Hill grabbed a school record for rebounds in a single season with 245 (8.2 rpg) and an impressive 12 double-doubles on the year, tying him for 26th in the nation.
After numerous individual records last season, some still remain in play, including the chance for Milivojevic to be the first ever ART U player to score 1,000 points. Hill currently tops the field goal percentage category at 57.4 percent, as well as leads the rebounding average with 8.2 per game. Undoubtedly, Hill will break into the top-10 in total career rebounds at ART U, sitting 28 away from 10th place (Cameron Niven, 273).
Accompanying the six seniors will be six juniors, with newcomers
Jacob Smith,
Michael Asante,
Christian Popoola Jr.,
Grant Bellis, and
Jayden Coke joining the returning
Jalen Lovett. Rounding out the team are freshmen
Maurice "Tre" Elrod and
Syon Green. Read more about the
incoming recruiting class here.
This short sprint of a season will begin this Friday at 5 p.m. with their first PacWest game since the postseason tournament.
