SAN FRANCISCO – Academy of Art women's soccer was on the verge of heading into overtime in its match with UH Hilo on Friday, but a late goal in the 80th minute would allow the Vulcans to secure a 1-0 Pacific West Conference victory. 

While the Urban Knights (1-4-2, 0-3-0 PacWest) thought they had scored not once, but twice early on in the match, neither would ultimately stay on the scoreboard as the first was waved off due to an offsides, while the second was ruled that it did not cross the goal line. Despite those chances, it was UH Hilo (6-3-0, 3-1-0 PacWest) who primarily controlled play, leading to the late goal that came from the boot of the team's leading scorer Daelenn Tokunaga. She was able to make her was around a defender and into the box, ultimately beating Knights goalkeeper Nicole Peoples to her left for the game-winning goal.

Despite the goal allowed, Peoples still had a strong effort in net as she made nine saves on the day, six of which came in the second half. She did her best to keep the Knights in the match as the Vulcans controlled the shot battle in both halves, putting a total of 10 shots on goal. Seven different Urban Knights recorded a single shot, five of which were on net.
