ACADEMY OF ART TO TANGO WITH PACWEST'S HAWAIIAN TRIO
Departing the mainland for the final time in 2021, Academy of Art volleyball carries the momentum of two Pacific West Conference victories into rematches against UH Hilo, Chaminade, and Hawaii Pacific this week.

FIRST SERVE
In Hawaii, ART U will begin on The Big Island with a 7 p.m. HT (10 p.m. PT) first serve against UH Hilo from inside Vulcan Gymnasium on Thursday, Nov. 4. After a day of island hopping to Oahu, the Knights then rematch Chaminade on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 3 p.m. HT (6 p.m. PT) inside McCabe Gymnasium. . Remember to follow @ARTU_Knights via the athletics app (Apple App Store, Google Play Store) and on Twitter & Instagram, as well as "Like" the Urban Knights on Facebook for score updates, videos, and recaps.

KNIGHT WATCH
Ashley MechamBoasting a strong offense that had three Urban Knights post double-digit kills in each of its last two matches, Academy of Art ranks second in the PacWest in assists (12.13) and fourth in kills (12.89) per set. The career records watch continues for junior setter Picabo Reinhold who is third in ART U history in assists (2,578), fourth in service aces (86), and ninth in digs (720) all while taking over the PacWest's lead with 10.67 assists per set (21st in NCAA DII) this season.

There are once again three Knights outside hitters among the conference's top 10 in kills per set with freshman Ashley Mecham (3.14) seventh (first among freshmen), junior Isaura Santos (3.05) ninth, and freshman Katherine Von Kraut (2.96) 10th. Mecham With a double-double in three straight matches, Mecham is up to 12 on the season and comes in averaging 3.29 per set.

Junior middle blocker Jillian Wheaton leads ART U in hitting percentage (.297) and ranks eighth in the PacWest along with leading all previous Academy of Art hitters with a .334 career clip. She is also up to fourth in Knights history in career block solos (28), ninth in career total blocks (185), and 10th in career block assists (157). Holding down the ninth-most digs per set (4.43) in the conference is freshman libero Elena Torres who posted 26 digs, her second-highest total of the season, recently against Dominican on Oct. 29.

VOYAGE TO THE VULCANS' VICINITY
Although UH Hilo won six straight after topping Academy of Art on Sept. 29 and third in the conference standings, the Vulcans come into this week's contest having lost two of their last three with sweeps at the hands of Concordia and Biola. Nevertheless, UH Hilo remains top three in the PacWest in hitting percentage (.226), kills (13.44), and assists per set (12.03) with Bria Beale remaining the conference leader at 3.86 kills per set (25th in NCAA DII). Unsurprisingly, Kendall Kott is second to Reinhold at 10.57 assists per set. The Vulcans moved in front of the Knights 15-3 historically with September's victory.

SEEING SWORDS ON OAHU
Receiving votes in the latest AVCA national poll and second only to Azusa Pacific in the PacWest standings, Chaminade has gone 9-2 since its Sept. 27 meeting with ART U on the mainland. The Silverswords will host Fresno Pacific on Nov. 3 and come into that matchup off wins over Concordia and Point Loma most recently. Leading a CUH team that paces the conference in kills per set (13.54) and service aces per set (1.82) is Brooklen Pe'a (2.95 kills per set) while the tandem of Kyra McCain (.338) and Lataisia Saulala (.337) are both among the PacWest's top five in hitting percentage. Chaminade's win over Academy of Art earlier this season put the Swords ahead 12-8 in the historical matchup.

SHARK-INFESTED WATERS
Falling to ART U 3-1 on Oct. 2 amid a six-match losing streak, Hawaii Pacific picked up wins over Holy Names and Dominican midway through October but have since dropped four straight heading into a Nov. 4 contest hosting FPU. Ella Dotson's 2.95 kills per set top the Sharks' offensive totals while Demi Winters' 0.78 blocks per set pace the team. The Urban Knights are back of HPU 16-5 in 21 previous meetings.

SOCAL SWING ENDS WITH CONCORDIA BESTING KNIGHTS IN IRVINE
Less than 24 hours from defeating Dominican 3-1, Academy of Art volleyball again tasted victory, besting Holy Names 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-18) on Oct. 30 inside Walter Gleason Gym. Balanced play both offensively and defensively was highlighted by four different Urban Knights logging two block assists apiece as ART U posted a tough wall at the net.

LOOKING AHEAD
Four matches will remain on the schedule at the conclusion of this week with Academy of Art getting set to host Concordia on Nov. 12 prior to its Senior Day versus Biola on Nov. 13.
