2021 PacWest Championship Results (Day 1)
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Two Academy of Art men's golf names sit atop the leaderboard after one round at the PacWest Championships on Monday, as juniors
Matthew Watkins and
Julius Kreutzer are a four-way tie for fourth place at even-par 70. Their performances helped the Urban Knights to combine for a 13-over-par 293, good enough for fourth place after day one.
Four birdies apiece on the round helped Watkins and Kreutzer finish even with par in the opening round. Kreutzer would go one to post the best combined par-3 and par-5 scores in the round, while Watkins tied for fourth with the most pars (12). Senior
Gabriel De Leon Manotoc round also ended the first round in the top-20, tying for 17th place with a score of 6-over-par 76. Rounding out the scoring was senior
Otto Homruen, tying for 19th place after he carded a 7-over-par 77.
It's a close battle for the team title, as the Urban Knights are just seven shots off of co-leaders Holy Names and UH Hilo (6-over-par 286), while third place Hawaii Pacific is just a stoke back aat 7-over-par 287. ART U did post the best combined par-5 score as a team at 2-under.
The second round of the PacWest Championships will tee off on Tuesday beginning at 7:30 a.m. HST.
