2022 Wildcat Classic (Final Results)

MARYSVILLE, Calif. – Jumping up the leaderboard in the final round of the 2022 Wildcat Classic for Academy of Art men's golf was junior Giulio Zanichelli, climbing nearly 10 spots into a top-20 finish as he ended the tournament at 1-under-par 215. Meanwhile, ART U finished in 11th as a unit at a combined score of 30-over-par 894.

Zanichelli's jump was built on the best Urban Knight round of the day, carding a 3-under-par 69 thanks to an eagle and a pair of birdies, all of which came on the back nine. His round today matched the great round yesterday by sophomore Jack DeBenedetti, as they each recorded an eagle along with their identical round scores, though the eagle for Zanichelli came on the 11th hole.

Dropping two spots on the leaderboard was DeBenedetti, still ending inside the top 30 in a tie for 29th place at 3-over-par 219 after a final round score of 1-over-par 73, with one birdie coming on the 11th hole. Rounding out the scoring for Academy of Art was junior Allan Osornio in 57th place at 15-over-par 231, while sophomore Anson Pan was 60th at 19-over-par 235.

Host Chico State captured the victory in the team portion of the tournament with a final combined score of 20-under-par 844, while Holy Names was the top finishing Pacific West Conference school in a tie for fourth place at 4-under-par 862. Winning the individual portion of the tournament was Griffin Pace of Sonoma State at 11-under-par 205, while Luke Dugger of HNU was the top Pac West individual in a tie for second place just one shot back at 10-under-par 206.

Having concluded the fall portion of the season, Academy of Art turns its attention to the championship portion in the spring, as ART U returns to the links on Feb. 13, 2023 to participate in the CSUSM Fujikura Invitational.
