KNIGHT WATCH

Academy of Art continues to stay with Point Loma and Biola as the only other Pacific West Conference team with two student-athletes among the top 10 in points per set in graduate student outside hitters
Amalie Rupertova (3.64) and
Maya McClellan (3.19). Rupertova's 3.25 kills per set remain fifth in the PacWest while McClellan's 2.69 kills per set are second on the team. Both are also inside ART U's top three in digs per set with McClellan at 2.73 and Rupertova at 2.61, having combined for 11 double-doubles.
Junior setter
Elly McInerney finds herself now sixth in the conference in assists per set (5.74), logging 22 or more in each of her last three matches while senior libero
Isaura Santos has settled at third in the PacWest at 4.11 digs per set, having registered double-digit digs in 12 of her 17 matches played.
Senior middle blocker
Jillian Wheaton added three more blocks in her outing against PLNU and is currently averaging a team-high 0.72 blocks per set. She looks to continue her ascension up the program's career block ranks where she is currently fourth in total blocks (240), fifth in block assists (202, five from passing Lindsay Elgin's 206), and now tied with Margaret Winker for second in block solos (38, six from passing Amy Bush's 43).
SAME NAMES
Holy Names has gone on an up-and-down ride since defeating Academy of Art on Sept. 26. The Hawks initially lost three of their next four matches, only besting Biola, then most recently won three of their latest four, taking two in Hawaii before returning to top Dominican. HNU ranks second in the PacWest at 16.27 digs per set with Rein Bocage's 3.72 average (eighth in the conference) a big contributing factor while Lauren Sera's 2.76 kills per set are ninth in the PacWest and Saupuni Mavaega sits fourth in hitting percentage (.294) and sixth in blocks per set (0.94). Though Holy Names has been victorious in four of the last five meetings, the historical matchup still favors ART U 19-9.
PENGUINS PART II
Following its five-set battle with the Urban Knights on Sept. 29, Dominican has taken singular sets from Fresno Pacific and Hawaii Pacific while dropping eight contests. The Penguins, who are slated to rematch FPU on Oct. 22, are led defensively by Vanna Marquez and her 4.03 digs per set (fourth in PacWest) while their top offensive threat remains Ella Heckman who is posting 2.30 kills per set. One win away from tying the all-time series, ART U is back of Dominican 16-15 historically.
ART U SCORES IMPROVE WITH EACH SET, EAGLES HOLD ON TO WIN
Closing out its Southern California roadtrip on
Oct. 15 inside CU Arena, Academy of Art volleyball showed progress with each set, giving Concordia quite a battle in the third, but the Eagles managed to emerge with the 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-20) Pacific West Conference victory in the end.
LOOKING AHEAD
One final home contest closes out the month of October for the Urban Knights who are set to host Fresno Pacific on Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. in what will be ART U's "Dig Pink" game to honor breast cancer awareness.
