Jillian Wheaton was recognized among the 2022 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team selections announced by CSC on Tuesday.
The 2022 Academic All-District volleyball teams, selected by CSC, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Supporting a 3.78 cumulative grade point average since joining Academy of Art in 2018, Wheaton proved to be one of the most efficient hitters in program history as well as a force at the net defensively. She finished holding the ART U record for highest career attack percentage (.325) and was second to the Academy of Art block solos leader by three (40) as well as top four in program history in both block assists (215) and total blocks (255).
The two-time All-PacWest Team member and four-time Academic All-PacWest honoree once again found herself among the Pacific West Conference leaders in hitting percentage this season. Connecting for a .320 mark (third in PacWest) in 2022, Wheaton hit over .333 in more than half of her matches while committing zero errors on a total of 11 occasions. On
Senior Day, the Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. native put away a season-high eight kills with no errors while adding four blocks.
This is the first CSC Academic All-District honor for Wheaton in her career.
