2022 Visit Stockton Invitational (Round One)
STOCKTON, Calif. – In its first action of the spring season, Academy of Art women's golf begins the Visit Stockton Invitational tied for 14th after one round of play at the Brookside Country Club on Monday. Junior
Iveta Posledni started with a 2-over-par 74 to lead the Urban Knights.
Posledni was even through her first four holes then added a pair of birdies in her trip through the front nine and logged another to start the back nine. Despite seeing her score rise a bit down the stretch, she finished the opening round in a tie for sixth overall with the third-most birdies out of the 104 golfers to compete. Just four strokes back of her teammate has junior
Anahi Servin tied for 36th with a 6-over-par 78 while the tandem of freshmen
Napat "Plern" Rattanaprakarn and
Tessa Geenen are each among those tied for 86th.
Out of 19 total teams in the tournament, ART U finds itself alongside St. Mary's (Tex.) in 14th with identical 320 combined scores. A slim one-stroke lead has Texas A&M International (296) in front of Cal State San Marcos (297) thanks in large part to pairs from each team all sharing the individual lead. The Dustdevils' Sahara Washington and Bailey Anderson are knotted up with the Cougars' Diana Delgado and Makenna Carbardo all with 1-over-par 73 results.
It will be an earlier start for Academy of Art on day two of the Visit Stockton Invitational as Tuesday's second round begins at 8:30 a.m.
