BRISBANE, Calif. – On the final day of its first Pacific West Conference series of the season hosting No. 3 Concordia, Academy of Art softball saw freshman pitcher
Julia Jordan (0-7) spin over five scoreless innings and senior catcher/infielder
Lauryn Henderson drive in three of her teammates while connecting for a pair of doubles. In the end, the Eagles used a total of five multi-run rallies to win game three of the series 8-2 and the finale 9-1.
GAME 1 - #3 CUI 8, ART U 2
Rallying with five runs to start the day following an error and a three-run homer, Concordia soon found itself up 8-0 with more offense in the second frame. From there, Jordan combined with the ART U defense to keep the Eagles off the scoreboard for the five innings that followed. She retired nine in a row at one point and later struck out a pair in the seventh.
A hit batter broke up CUI's perfect game in the third then sophomore infielder
Haley Randall notched a single in the fourth and came home on Henderson's first double of the afternoon to make it an 8-1 ballgame. The Urban Knights got their second run of the contest in the sixth when walks to sophomore outfielder
Maddie Sticka, Randall, and junior catcher/utility
Cassandra Mittman loaded the bases for Henderson who drove in another with a single. Another walk was drawn to start the seventh, but the score remained at 8-2 for the duration.
GAME 2 - #3 CUI 9, ART U 1 (6)

Sophomore pitcher
Jolene Rhoades (0-9) needed just four pitches to retire the side in the second after keeping the Eagles at bay in the first inning of the series finale. Though Academy of Art put two aboard in each of the first two frames, it was not until the fourth that both teams delivered runs.
A four-run rally came on four CUI hits to start then Randall's single was followed by a hit batter and Henderson again provided the clutch hit, a double to left, to make it a 4-1 contest.
Jordan returned in the third and proceeded to soon retire seven of eight straight including four on strikes, but a pair of two-run swings of the bat came in the fifth and sixth for Concordia, ultimately helping the Eagles prevail 9-1.
The day's results put Academy of Art at 0-18 overall and 0-4 in PacWest play. Henderson finished 3-for-6 with two doubles and three runs batted in while Randall also added hits in both contests, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Sophomore outfielder
Cailee Grayhorse-Pupecki also singled in each game to end up 2-for-4. Jordan completed 5.1 scoreless innings with three hits allowed and no walks plus five strikeouts in the first game.
No. 3 Concordia rises to 20-0 on the season and 8-0 through its first two conference series. Kendall Flatt drove in three in a 1-for-4 first game before Sydney Sprinkle added four RBIs in her 2-for-4 game two effort. Cortney Koelmans (5-0) picked up the win in the opening contest with one run allowed on two hits and four strikeouts in 5.0 innings of work then Rae Flores (4-0) also surrendered a lone run on four hits and struck out four in 5.0 innings as well.
The Urban Knights continue their 12-game homestand with a four-game set hosting Azusa Pacific on Mar. 7-8.
