NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational Results (Round One)
LIVERMORE, Calif. – Just two shots of the lead is Academy of Art men's golf freshman
Anson Pan after the first round of the NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational, placing him in a tie for second place at 1-under par 71 while ART U as a squad is currently in 13th at 23-over-par 311.Â
Pan used four birdies on the front nine and one on the back to close out the first day of action at 1-under, as he is currently fifth in the entire tournament in birdies. Meanwhile, just sneaking inside the top 20 is another freshman in
Ralph Kho, who closed with three birdies on his last seven holes, including consecutive birdies on the final two holes. Finishing the scoring for ART U was juniorÂ
Matthew Watkins in a tie for 61st, while freshman
Giulio Zanichelli closed in a tie for 78th.Â
It is a battle at the top of the tournament leaderboard between Montana State-Billings and Cal State East Bay, with the Yellowjackets holding the pole position at 8-over-par 296 while the Pioneers sit at nine-over-par 297. The top individual golfer of the tournament is Hawaii Pacific's Keita Oiada, who turned in a 3-under-par 69 to close out the first day.
Day two of the NNU Poppy Ridge Invitational will take place tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
