Henderson's Big Senior Day Leads To PacWest Weekly Honor

PacWest Weekly Awards (Apr. 25)

IRVINE, Calif. – Reaching base in five of seven times she stepped to the plate appropriately on Senior Day while hitting for extra bases on three occasions, senior catcher/infielder Lauryn Henderson was named Pacific West Conference Player of the Week. The award is for games played from Apr. 18-24.

Following a pre-game ceremony in which she was honored with two other ART U seniors, Henderson put on quite a show for friends and family in the Urban Knights' Apr. 24 Senior Day matchup with Holy Names. She legged out her third career triple in her first at-bat of game one then later walked to tie the program's career record of 77 free passes. The Game Development major then singled and scored the go-ahead run midway through game two before doubling and scoring in each of her final two at-bats with the last being the winning run of a 5-4 victory. Her two doubles gave her 42 in her career which also tied the Academy of Art record.

On the season, Henderson now ranks tied for second in the PacWest with 14 doubles and tied for seventh with 24 runs scored.

This is the fourth PacWest Player of the Week award for Henderson in her career as well as her first of the season.
