2022 NCAA Division II West Regional (First Round)
STOCKTON, Calif. – It was nearly the best possible start for Academy of Art women's golf junior
Anahi Servin while at the NCAA Division II West Regional at Brookside Country Club, as
the Pacific West Conference Tournament runner up did not record a single bogey while totaling five birdies to end the opening round in second place at 5-under-par 67.
Beginning the tournament from the back nine, Servin immediately got off to a hot start when she dropped a birdie on her first hole she played on 10th. Four consecutive par saves would separate her next birdie on the 15th hole before adding another on Hole 17, making the turn to the front nine at 3-under. A trio of par saves on holes 1-3 would keep Servin toward the top of the leaerboard before briefly vaulting into the No. 1 position after consecutive birdies on holes five and six. Though she would not hold the lead, Servin finished her round strong with another four par saves.
Today's score for Servin marked her second-lowest score of the season, coming at an opportune time as she sits just one stroke off of the overall leader Sahara Washington at 6-under-par 66, which is propelling Texas A&M International into a current first-place effort. While Servin was second in the overall field, she currently leads all individual competitors which includes 2022 PacWest Tournament individual champion Claire Shubin, who is in a tie for 31st place at 4-over-par 76.
Also making a top-10 appearance from the PacWest is Sami Penor of conference champion Biola in a tie for sixth place at even-par 72. Biola, the only PacWest team at the West Regional, is currently in eighth place as a unit.
Servin tees up her second round of the DII West Regional tomorrow morning at 8 a.m.
