Knights Deepen Sprints, Relays By Adding Jamaal Palmer

SAN FRANCISCO – Looking to further build upon the Academy of Art track & field tradition of national success, Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Kevin LaSure and his staff have announced Jamaal Palmer (Toronto, Ontario, Canada/Washington State), a graduate student transfer with multiple strong years as a sprinter for NCAA Division I Washington State.

Palmer joined the Cougars in 2019 and proceeded to run his fastest indoor 60m (6.89) and 200m (22.04) in his debut meet. Thereafter, he would finish 13th in the 200m at the MPSF Indoor Track & Field Championships prior to Indoor Nationals being canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Most recently in 2022, Palmer dropped his two best outdoor 100m (10.82) and 200m (22.03) times at the Baldy Castillo Invitational.

Prior to his time at Washington State, Palmer earned a host of accolades including four-time CCCAA All-American, six-time All-Region, 2018 Orange Empire Conference Athlete of the Year, and 2017-18 OEC Champion in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay all while attending Riverside City College. His top marks as a Tiger were 10.52 and 21.14 which earned him those 100m and 200m titles in 2018. Palmer was a varsity letter winner in track & field at Notre Dame High School in Riverside and has also competed for the Flying Angels Track Club.

As he progresses toward his future goal of working in app research development, Palmer begins his graduate program in the Academy of Art School of Interaction & UI/UX Design.
