2023 Wildcat Classic (Day 1 Results)

CHICO, Calif. -- Academy of Art men's golf completed the first two rounds of the Wildcat Invitational in 12th overall with junior Giulio Zanichelli even with par following Monday's action out at Butte Creek Country Club.

Zanichelli logged a total of seven birdies through his first 36 holes, finishing the first round with a 1-under-par 71 before a 1-over-par-73 in his second time through. His even-par-144 paces the Urban Knights in a tie for 21st ahead of junior Anson Pan (tied for 58th at 8-over-par 152) and senior Allan Osornio (tied for 63rd at 9-over-par 153) who both improved from their respective first rounds to their second. Sophomore Jerah Venkaiya is two strokes back of his teammates at 11-over-par 155 and tied for 73rd.

Turning in a pair of 13-over-par 301 combined scores, Academy of Art is in 12th overall back of Dominican (594) and in front of Simpson (302) as well as Jessup (607).

Though the overall leaders through two rounds are Cal State East Bay's Easton Hether and Cal State San Bernardino's John Kim both at 8-under-par 136, it is Chico State and Sonoma State who are tied for first overall by one one stroke.

The Urban Knights return to the links at Butte Creek Country Club for the tournament's final round tomorrow at 9 a.m.
