2023 Bay Area Invitational (Final Results)
STOCKTON, Calif. – Facing extremely windy conditions at the start of the day, Academy of Art women's golf set out to better their placement in the final round of the Bay Area Invitational, but the harsh conditions would call an end to the tournament early leaving ART U to finish in fifth as a team thanks to their round one score of 30-over-par 318.
While some players in the field had teed off, the wind was too much of a factor and was the primary reason in halting play and bringing an end to the tournament,
with all placements being decided by yesterday's opening round. With the stoppage, that means that freshman
Maddie Elias was the top finisher for the Urban Knights despite playing as an individual thus not counting towards the team score, as she ended yesterday at 1-over-par 73. Contributing the best round towards the team was freshman
Nicole Yang, as she was 4-over-par 76 with a pair of birdies.
Academy of Art will be back in action next week as the Urban Knights participate in the Tim Tierney Pioneer Shootout from Chuck Corica Golf Complex beginning on Monday, Feb. 27.
