PacWest Tournament Has DeBenedetti, Zanichelli Top 10

PacWest Championship (Day One Results)

WAIMEA, Hawaii –
Academy of Art men's golf concluded the first round of action of the Pacific West Conference Championship with a 36-over-par 324 team score by day's end, and are currently ranked fourth of six teams with two members of the Urban Knights putting themselves in the top 10 in individual play.

The Knight who led the squad with the lowest round of the day was senior Jack DeBenedetti, currently tied for fifth place with his 5-over-par 77 while he holds a two-stroke lead over next best seventh place. Right behind tied for eighth place is junior Giulio Zanichelli, who shares the spot with five others all hitting an 8-over-par 80 on the day. Right inside the top 20 is senior Allan Osornio in the third spot for the Knights with an 11-over-par 83. While freshman Miguel Mendoza sits a stroke behind with a 12-over-par 84, junior Anson Pan sits one more back with a 13-over-par 85.

UH Hilo holds the team lead with a 21-over-par 309 while Hawaii Pacific is right there with them at 22-over-par 310. Next up is Chaminade who holds a four stroke lead over the Knights, with Westmont and Dominican following thereafter. Kyle Krupp of HPU holds the top spot in individual play for the moment with his even-par 72, while DeBenedetti and four others all remain within five strokes.

The second of three rounds will commence tomorrow at Mauna Lani Country Club.
