Giulio Zanichelli recorded a 3-over-par 74 while entering the contest as an individual and sits tied for 68th place out of 108 competitors.
Shooting an even-par 35 on his front-nine that consisted of five-straight holes with a par and two birdies on Hole 7 and Hole 8, Zanchelli totaled four birdies total as he got two more to go in the back-nine on Hole 11 and Hole 14.
Fellow West Region golfer Tony Tao of Monterey Bay is currently leading the field individually as he shot a 8-under-par 63 through his first round, as he holds a two stroke lead over Manuel Cue of Grand Valley State. In team play, Oklahoma Christian and Colorado Christian both hold the lead through Day 1 with a 7-under-par 277 apiece while West Florida and Grand Valley State are both two strokes behind.
Zanichelli will run it back tomorrow for his second round looking to climb the ladder.
